May Taiwanese Heritage festival celebration
As a part of our May festival celebration, Community Outreach Committee invites first and second graders from Bonham Elementary School to the Taiwanese community center for a Traditional Taiwanese Puppet show.  About 400 students will visit the center in smaller groups in two separate days. They will not only watch the show provided by Hsing Tao Yuan Puppet Troop, but also have an hands-on opportunity to learn the techniques of handling the puppets from the puppet show masters. Besides the puppet shows, there will also be popular Taiwanese Folk Art of Dough Figurines and Taiwanese Folk Art of Painted Candy Figurines in the programs.

Taiwanese Heritage Week Concert
Sponsored by Community Service and Culture Committee

Featuring the following performers:

Pianist: Dr. Rudiger Steinfatt

Soprano: Ms. Yunju Lai

Piano Accompanist: Ms. Wang-Shan Tu

String Quartet: Tomatz Quartet of Chavdar Parashkevov, Shih-Ting Huang, Lorento Golofeev and Shino Hayashi

In this concert the performers will play and sing music pieces composed by both Taiwanese composer; Mr. Chih-Yuan Kuo and western composers.

The outreach committee is planning to invite the community scholarship recipients and their families to the concert. For the past three years, THSH has awarded the Community Scholarships to the college bound seniors from 7 to 10 public high schools.
