THSH Scholarship Program

The Scholarship Programs

Taiwanese Heritage Society of Houston (THSH) was founded in 1989 as an IRS tax-exempt 501(C) (3) organization. The main goals of THSH are to provide social, cultural and educational services to the greater Houston metropolitan area, and to increase public understanding of Taiwanese cultural heritages.

As part of our efforts to serve the community, as well as to encourage qualified students to further pursue higher education, THSH has offered two scholarship programs as follows:

(I). Taiwanese American Community Scholarship (TACS)

The Community Scholarships are awarded to qualified high school seniors from selected high schools in Houston Metropolitan area. The recipients are selected based on their academic achievements and the commitments for their services to the community. Since the establishment of the scholarship in 2001, THSH has awarded more than fifty students from schools across several different districts. Recipients, their families and school officials were invited to the Taiwanese Community Center for award ceremonies, which were held during the month of May or June. Similar award ceremonies will be planned for the new recipients.

The deadline for the 2008 Community scholarship is April 10, 2008. The application form is available at the TACS link.

(II). Taiwanese Heritage Scholarship (THS)

These Taiwanese Heritage scholarships are awarded to the high school seniors of Taiwanese decent. The deadline to apply for the 2007 THS scholarship is Nov. 10, 2007. For the application form and detail information, please click the THS link.
