Taiwanese
Established to carry on the legacy of the Taiwanese mother language, our Taiwanese program serves to connect the young and the old generations and promote better understanding of Taiwanese geography, history, and culture. The program emphasizes students’ listening and verbal communication skills, using textbooks developed in-house, which combine Taiwanese culture with touches of American culture. The texts are primarily in Romanized Taiwanese with Han-Ji and English translations, ensuring a smooth and speedy learning experience. Any adult or youngster familiar with the English alphabet will be able to converse in simple Taiwanese in a short time.

From its inception in 1985, our Chinese program has been using Han-yu Pin-yin in its teaching. The rationale at that time was that the Han-yu Pin-yin is easier to write and is easier to pronounce since its phonetics is similar to that of Latin. The unique, innovative arrangement, considered a bold move at the time, greatly reduces the burden and obstacles of local students in their learning of the Chinese ...
